Surpeme Court considers “faithless” delegates in Electoral College
Earlier this month, the Supreme Court issues its anticipated Chiafalo decision and held that states could sanction and/or remove “faithless” electoral college delegates who vote for a candidate other than the candidate popularly elected in the delegate’s state. Justice Kagan’s opinion is readable and provides some great history about the electoral college system, especially the first several pages of the opinion. Definitely interesting reading for history buffs. Justice Kagan is such a pleasure to read. The full decision is available here.
